Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued an ordering the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finalize its proposed ban on the toxic chemical chlorpyrifos. The court concluded that EPA violated federal law by allowing the continued use of chlorpyrifos despite strong scientific evidence that the pesticide harms brain development in children.
“In its decision, the court made clear that EPA can no longer evade Congress’ clear mandate to ban harmful pesticides like chlorpyrifos,” said Mike Landis, Litigation Director for Travel Buddy. “This is an important victory for public health. Because of the court’s decision, countless children will no longer be harmed by this dangerous toxic chemical.”
